14 Scriptures About God's Love
A Love Letter From God

I once heard in a Seminary class that the scriptures can be like a love letter from God. Whether this “week of love” with Valentine’s Day is a time of great romance or a time of loneliness, we all have access to the greatest love of all: that of our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ.

The sisters at This Blue Dress picked 14 verses that remind us of God’s infinite and perfect love. We hope you feel loved as you read through this collection. Many are from the Prophet John who taught about God’s love in sending us His Perfect Son.

1. 1 John 4:19

Because He First Loved Us

19 We love him, because he first loved us.

2. John 15:12-14

Love one another scripture verse

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

3. 1 Nephi 19:9

His Loving Kindness

And the world, because of their iniquity, shall judge him to be a thing of naught; wherefore they scourge him, and he suffereth it; and they smite him, and he suffereth it. Yea, they spit upon him, and he suffereth it, because of his loving kindness and his long-suffering towards the children of men.

4. 1 John 4:8

For God Is Love scripture verse

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

5. Romans 8:39

Nor separate us from the love of God

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

6. 2 Nephi 1:15

In the arms of his love

15 But behold, the Lord hath redeemed my soul from hell; I have beheld his glory, and I am encircled about eternally in the arms of his love.

7. Isaiah 49: 15-16

Upon the Palms of My Hands

15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

8. John 8:10-11

Neither Do I Condemn Thee

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

9. Doctrine and Covenants 121:7-8

Shall Be But a Small Moment

My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;

And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.

10. Proverbs 8:17

Seek Me Early

17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

11. 1 John 4:18

Perfect Love Casteth Out Fear

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

12. Matthew 11:28-30

And I Will Give You Rest

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

13. Genesis 1:31

It Was Very Good

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

14. John 15:9

Continue Ye In My Love

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

God’s love is shown through His comfort, His patience, His teaching, His creations, His gift of His Son. We are so grateful for His love.
