Chick Flicks Even Your Man Will Love and some Girls' NIght Picks too

When it’s Friday night date night, the last thing you want to do is drive your man from the room with the two words, “chick flick”. But what if it’s a movie you can enjoy together, while still satisfying our girly inner need for romance? Just for you, we asked our fellas over here and had them compile their own list of movies that they enjoyed watching with us! (Or at least tolerated enough to recommend them!)

**We have listed the movies that we think would be even more fun if we edit some of that adult content out. Click here to learn more about our favorite movie filter: VidAngel! We use it all the time in our family- because all movies are more fun when they’re clean!

Another great source for reviewing movies is Common Sense Media which is a Christian-based website that lets you know what is in the movie before you watch it!

And now for the list! (Not in any particular order!)

  1. Last Holiday**

“After she is diagnosed with a terminal illness, a shy woman decides to take a European vacation.”

This movie changed my whole perspective on life and love, encouraging us to learn to live life to the fullest. It is hilarious and also brings out a few tears…yet it is number one in my dad’s book!

**We watch this video edited for content, as it contains half a dozen profanities and makes a few crude adult comments.

  1. You’ve Got Mail**

“Two business rivals who despise each other in real life unwittingly fall in love over the Internet.”

I have to admit, this is probably one of my favorite chick flicks of all time. I have yet to find a movie that makes me feel so tingly inside as the ending of this movie! It is just so witty and fun, and keeps you on your toes! And at the time of this post, it’s FREE with Amazon Prime.

**We watch this movie edited for content, as it contains half a dozen profanities and makes a few crude comments.

  1. The Lake House**

A lonely doctor who once occupied an unusual lakeside home begins exchanging love letters with its newest resident, a frustrated architect…who lives two years in the past.”

Thanks to the mysterious plotline of the two characters living two years apart (yep, you read that right!), this is a movie that appeals to us and to our guys too!

**Another one we edit for swear words because almost every movie has that one brother that swears up a storm.

  1. Kate and Leopold**

This movie….is so beautiful. It is dreamy and definitely makes my top 10. Unfortunately, it’s not currently available on Amazon…but I’m leaving this link here in the hopes that one day they bring it back! This one was recommended by the boyfriends.

**Yep, we edit this one too as it contains a few swear words and a few crude comments.

  1. Miss Congeniality**

“International screen sensation Sandra Bullock stars as an FBI agent who goes undercover as a beauty contestant to capture a terrorist in this hilarious action-comedy.”

This one comes recommended by my brother! He loves this movie, and we of course do too! It is hilarious and flirty, and stars Sandra Bullock!

**We edit this movie for content, as it contains…a little bit of everything.

  1. My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend–CLEAN!

One of our family’s favorite chick flicks is this cheesy movie we found on Netflix! It has no swear words and no adult content. It is currently on Netflix AND it is currently on Prime video, giving you two free viewing options if you subscribe to those services. Plus, it’s a movie that even our dad will watch with us!

“Jesse meets two Mr. Rights in a day. She is faced with the choice of having to choose one, except everything is not always as it seems in this light-hearted tale of finding love twice.

  1. Dan in Real Life**

“A widower finds out the woman he loves is his brother’s girlfriend.”

This is going on my watch-list because I haven’t seen it yet! It was recommended by one of the husbands of our family! Could it be Steve Carell’s humor?

**I can’t vouch for this movie, but from the reviews, it might be safer to bleep out a few things to make it more family friendly!

  1. Charade–CLEAN!

Who doesn’t want to include Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in their movie night? This movie is a lot of suspense with just a hint of romance (at least that’s what we want our guys to think!)

“Romance and suspense ensue in Paris as a woman is pursued by several men who want a fortune her murdered husband had stolen. Who can she trust?”

  1. How to Steal a Million–CLEAN!

This movie was so well done! The plot is so unique and so interesting, and the characters are so dreamy! Because it focuses on the heist, and not on the romance, it’s a movie you can trick your guy into watching. 🙂 And the best part is that it’s 100% CLEAN. You can also find it on Netflix!

  1. Stardust**

This movie is super goofy and funny, which is why it appeals to the guys! However, it’s about a boy who travels to bring back a falling star for the woman he loves…little does he know that the star…is another woman! Let’s be real, it’s totally a romance.

**We edit this for content, as it contains a few sensual images and a few crude jokes.

  1. While You Were Sleeping**

“When Lucy saves a man from being hit by a train, his family jumps to some funny conclusions while he is sleeping…Meanwhile, she and the patient’s brother find themselves drawn to each other in a hilarious twist!”

Hands down one of the best chick flicks of all time. It has lots of jokes for the guys, and lots of “leaning” for the girls!

**This movie should be edited for content, as it contains swear words and a few crude comments.

We Crouch sisters LOVE Girls’ Night and are always looking for some clean movies to enjoy when the guys aren’t around! We’ve compiled our list of best chick flicks for those nights when we can sneak away! For Girls’ Night!

  1. Ever After–CLEAN!

My favorite twist on the classic Cinderella story. It is beautiful, witty, and ah! It’s just so beautiful! How many times have I seen this movie? Let’s see…how many days have I been alive??
Watch it!

13. Pride and Prejudice–CLEAN!

This classic story is brought to life again in one of our family’s favorite versions! Is it the wit? The hilarious roommates? Or is it because Mr. Darcy is so dreamy? *No comment*… It may not be your man’s favorite action movie of all time, but it gets the Crouch sister’s rank of approval! You can currently watch it for FREE with Amazon Prime!

  1. Pride and Prejudice–CLEAN!

On that note, here is the “original” story that everyone NEEDS to see!
“The story is based on Jane Austen’s novel about five sisters – Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia Bennet – in Georgian England. Their lives are turned upside down when a wealthy young man (Mr. Bingley) and his best friend (Mr. Darcy) arrive in their neighborhood.”

If you haven’t seen this movie, your search has ended right here. It is the chick flick of all chick flicks. And if you can convince your guy to sit with you through this movie, he might pick up some good tips from our fine man Mr. Darcy.

  1. Emma–CLEAN!

“This delightfully fun and lighthearted comedy is based on Jane Austen’s classic novel. Dazzling Gweneth Paltrow shines as Emma- a mischievous young beauty who sets up her single friends. Funny thing is…she’s not very good at it! So when Emma tries to find a man for Harriet, she makes a hilariously tangled mess of everyone’s lives.”

This movie cracks me up! It is so funny, and Gweneth Paltrow really does a perfect job of playing this character. It’s a clean one, but we’re going to claim this one for our girls’ nights.

  1. Letters to Juliet**

“When a young American travels to the city of Verona, home of the star-crossed lover Juliet Capulet of Romeo and Juliet fame, she joins a group of volunteers who respond to letters to Juliet seeking advice about love. When she answers one letter dated 1957, she inspires its author to travel to Italy in search of her long-lost love and sets off a chain of events that will bring a love into both their lives, unlike anything they ever imagined.”

To be honest, this is not my favorite movie of all time. It’s pretty darn cheesy, and a little unrealistic. But, it’s a PG movie with very little, if any, bad content and I would probably watch it again with my sisters. I’m just sayin’, you might want to save this one for a girl’s night!

**This movie is recommended to edit for a few swear words.

  1. Two Weeks Notice**

Opposites don’t just attract – they hilariously feud and collide when SANDRA BULLOCK plays an activist lawyer and HUGH GRANT is the eccentric tycoon who hires her…

**We edit for content, as it contains swear words and some unsightly scenes with that “other woman” that no one likes.

  1. Never Been Kissed**

“A 25-year old journalist re-enrolls in her old high school as part of her research for a story…and falls for her teacher!”

This is an oft-quoted movie in my family! Its plot line is so original, and I love the way the characters grow throughout the movie.

**We recommend editing because…it contains a little bit of everything.

Have an awesome movie night!
