Hey guys! I’m Makayla!
Like my older sisters, I grew up in our small-town in Missouri, where I considered myself a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none. I took the yearbook pictures at my own volleyball games, after singing the opening national anthem with the choir! This might be one of the reasons behind my senior class award– “the most likely to never study and still get good grades”.
After high school, I moved to Utah to attend Brigham Young University, and through hard work (and pure luck!) I got accepted into the nursing program! I’ve worked around campus for years as both a Resident Assistant in the dorms and a proud member of the Grounds crew. Although I was living my dreams here in Provo, Heavenly Father had other plans for me.
In 2016, was called to serve an LDS mission to Resistencia, Argentina, where I would learn a new language and all about a new culture! I got to teach others about how to improve their lives as I taught them about Jesus Christ. I saw many lives change, including my own. And sometimes I still find myself saying Spanish words because I can’t think of them in English! Also, I really miss those empanadas (check out the recipe!)
Now, I have even more adventures ahead of me, with nursing school, dating, and…who knows what else!
I like to write songs, eat ice cream, and tell stories! And I may or may not be the favorite aunt of all of my sisters’ adorable kids! 😉
